Slowing Down is Necessary in this Fast Paced World

Have you ever wondered why we are not able to turn our brains off for a moment of self peace and awareness. In a world full of phone apps, computers, laptops, and social media. It becomes impossible to reflect in ways that have nothing to do with technology. I say this from my own personal experience of trying to shut out the world that we have become so used to. But what if we did get in the habit of taking time to smell the roses, look at a bird in a tree. The small little things that we take for granted. How nice it would be if we were even content with the idea of just being with yourself. How long would this last, before you were distracted by your text messages. Challenge yourself to sit with yourself. Even if it’s just for a few minutes a day. It’s vital for our inner spirit to feel that kind of peace before our technical world begins for the day. Let’s train ourselves to power off…

Sappho, spelled (in the dialect spoken by the poet) Psappho, (born c. 610, Lesbos, Greece — died c. 570 BCE). A lyric poet greatly admired in all ages for the beauty of her writing style.

Her language contains elements from Aeolic vernacular and poetic tradition, with traces of epic vocabulary familiar to readers of Homer. She has the ability to judge critically her own ecstasies and grief, and her emotions lose nothing of their force by being recollected in tranquillity.
