Do You Ever Wonder

Wonder what our lives would be like if we didn’t have to make a living? One day I couldn’t help but notice all the cars driving in every direction at such high speeds. “Slow down,” I say to myself. Everyone driving in all areas of the city: driving to work, attending conferences, doing errands, meeting with clients, lunches, brunches, and everything in between. At the stop lights, I notice the guy at the bus stop on his phone, the car next to me on their phone. A young girl with bad posture because she’s walking with her phone. I daydream a little dream to go somewhere where life didn’t feel so rushed, so ignored. When I say ignored I say this because connecting with people has been lost. We no longer pay attention to God’s creation of life and beauty. I sometimes wish a flying saucer would beam me up and say hello earthling, we know you are tired of being here. We will show you how we live and it’s nothing like your planet earth. I say to you earthlings, slow down. You already ran over the poor squirrels, ran over a deer, and ran through a flock of birds that shit on your car as you passed them up.

Slow Your Row

Sappho, spelled (in the dialect spoken by the poet) Psappho, (born c. 610, Lesbos, Greece — died c. 570 BCE). A lyric poet greatly admired in all ages for the beauty of her writing style.

Her language contains elements from Aeolic vernacular and poetic tradition, with traces of epic vocabulary familiar to readers of Homer. She has the ability to judge critically her own ecstasies and grief, and her emotions lose nothing of their force by being recollected in tranquillity.
