Good morning 🌅 I wanted to write about my day yesterday. It was a very nice day. I met several beautiful people as I worked yesterday. I had some amazing conversations with different people. I left the corporate job because I felt disconnected, despite interacting with people on a daily basis. A lot of chatter, gossip, and toxic behaviors lead to me quitting. It was a hard decision, but one I felt compelled to make. I started working with Lyft , as I searched for new opportunities. I had lost that unique way of connecting with people before I left my previous job. I was going to work every single day, giving myself time to heal from the experience of working for an industry that doesn’t care about anyone except numbers and outcomes. It was very discouraging to me to not even get a hello. The customer complaint from yesterday was the focus and that’s all that mattered. In a world of to-do list, a world evolving into AI ,and technology taking over, we must remember we are human. If we don’t remember this simple truth, we will all become robots walking around with no feelings and no emotions. God made us human and it’s important we don’t lose sight of this.

Do You Ever Wonder
Wonder what our lives would be like if we didn’t have to make a living? One day I couldn’t help but notice all the cars driving in every direction at such high speeds. “Slow down,” I say to myself. Everyone driving in all areas of the city: driving to work, attending conferences, doing errands, meeting with clients, lunches, brunches, and everything in between. At the stop lights, I notice the guy at the bus stop on his phone, the car next to me on their phone. A young girl with bad posture because she’s walking with her phone. I daydream a little dream to go somewhere where life didn’t feel so rushed, so ignored. When I say ignored I say this because connecting with people has been lost. We no longer pay attention to God’s creation of life and beauty. I sometimes wish a flying saucer would beam me up and say hello earthling, we know you are tired of being here. We will show you how we live and it’s nothing like your planet earth. I say to you earthlings, slow down. You already ran over the poor squirrels, ran over a deer, and ran through a flock of birds that shit on your car as you passed them up.

Peace Over Paycheck
If you only knew how many rooms I’ve walked into where the air itself felt heavy — situations that pulled me straight into frustration, exhaustion, and second-guessing myself. It’s so easy to fall into that bad habit of looking at the down side of everything, especially when you’re doing your best and things still don’t go your way.
There came a point when I had to be honest with myself: my peace of mind was worth more than any paycheck. So I walked away from a toxic environment.
Before that, I took a manager job in hotels. On paper, it was everything. I was making great money — the most money I had ever made — with bonuses, benefits, the title. But it came at a cost I wasn’t willing to pay anymore.
The cost was me.
The long shifts, the constant radio chatter in my ear, the 2 a.m. phone calls about a guest complaint, the pressure to smile while putting out one fire after another — it slowly wore me down. I lost my sense of self. That bubbly, always-positive woman who could light up a lobby, who laughed easily and saw the best in people, went quiet.
I was spending all my energy trying to train and motivate people who were checked out, who didn’t want to be there, who brought their own storms to work every day. I was coaching, covering call-outs, absorbing everyone’s bad day, and trying to keep the whole hotel running with grace. And somewhere in between all of that, I stopped recognizing myself in the mirror.
Leaving wasn’t failure. It was me finding my way back to who I was before the title. I had to find my way back to the light. There isn’t enough money in the world to ever give up my peace, confidence, and happiness. No, life is too damn short. The older you get, the faster it goes. You were meant to spread that natural light, not hide behind it.

Slowing Down is Necessary in this Fast Paced World
Have you ever wondered why we are not able to turn our brains off for a moment of self peace and awareness. In a world full of phone apps, computers, laptops, and social media. It becomes impossible to reflect in ways that have nothing to do with technology. I say this from my own personal experience of trying to shut out the world that we have become so used to. But what if we did get in the habit of taking time to smell the roses, look at a bird in a tree. The small little things that we take for granted. How nice it would be if we were even content with the idea of just being with yourself. How long would this last, before you were distracted by your text messages. Challenge yourself to sit with yourself. Even if it’s just for a few minutes a day. It’s vital for our inner spirit to feel that kind of peace before our technical world begins for the day. Let’s train ourselves to power off…

Reclaiming Your Independence:
Change is hard, but harder when you don’t make a change.
It is one of the heaviest, most paralyzing feelings in the world—waking up and realizing you’ve handed the keys to your life over to someone else.
Whether it’s a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, or wife, it is incredibly easy to slowly let a partner take too much control. Maybe it started as reliance, or maybe it masqueraded as “protection” or love. But over time, that dynamic shatters your independence.
If you are sitting in a bad situation right now, feeling trapped because of financial dependence or emotional exhaustion, please know this: I understand how excruciatingly hard it is to leave. I know the fear of the unknown, the guilt of walking away, and the terrifying question of “How will I survive on my own?”
But I also know that deep down inside, a quiet voice is whispering that you were meant for so much more.
The Cost of Remaining Stagnant
Human beings were never meant to be stagnant. We require personal growth and a sense of achievement to thrive. When we deny ourselves that growth, a hollow emptiness settles in. We become restless.
You are not meant to just exist as a supporting character in someone else’s story while your own script gathers dust.
Whether you are a Christian or not, we can all feel when our soul starts to suffocate. God created us with unique gifts, talents, and a distinct purpose. When you sacrifice your identity, your dreams, and your endeavors just to keep the peace or stay afloat in a toxic situation, you restrict your creative, dynamic mind and spirit. You lose your voice.
When you stop dreaming and stop believing in your own capabilities, you step onto a road that leads straight to a glum, grey state of mind where every day feels hopeless.
Your Life Belongs to You
Let’s establish a fundamental truth right now: No one should ever, ever be in control of how you manage your life.
A healthy life partner isn’t supposed to diminish you or keep you dependent. True partners are eager to support you, lift you up, and provide a safe space where you feel confident enough to build the person you were always meant to be. If your current situation forces you to play small just to keep someone else comfortable, it is not a situation meant for your future.
It is time to establish your peace. It is time to protect your mental wellness. And yes, it is time to build your financial independence so you never have to choose between a roof over your head and your self-respect.
How to Start Daring to Dream Again
You don’t have to have the next ten years mapped out, but you do need to make a choice. And you need to make it now. Do not waste another minute waiting for the “perfect” time—it doesn’t exist.
Here is how you start reclaiming your power today:
- Acknowledge Your Gifts: What did you love to do before you shrank yourself to fit into this relationship? What are your natural talents? It is never too late to explore them.
- Audit Your Finances in Secret: If it is safe to do so, start gathering your documents, understanding where money goes, and finding small ways to build an emergency fund that belongs solely to you. Financial freedom is the ultimate boundary.
- Seek True Community: Lean on friends, family, or professional support networks who see your worth and want to see you expand, not shrink.
- Dare to Dream a Little Dream: Give yourself permission to imagine a life where you wake up in absolute peace, answerable only to yourself, with a bank account you built and a mind that is calm.
Make the Choice Today
The road to financial independence and mental wellness will require grit, but the road of remaining stagnant will cost you your soul.
Get up. Shake off the doubt. Dare to dream a little dream, and then take the first step to make it a reality. Your gifts are waiting to be explored, your peace is waiting to be claimed, and your life is waiting for you to take the wheel.
You are stronger than you think. Choose yourself today.
There is no doubt in my heart that we are all warriors. We shape ourselves to the fighter in us. Now it’s the big fight of challenging yourself. It’s now or never!
